  • Recent deals for 4sp billet from Japan closed this week at $427/t cfr China, and for 4sp blast furnace billet from Vietnam at $435/t cfr China, sources add. Vietnamese blast furnace billet prices had fallen last week to conclude at $422/t cfr China, down from $428/t cfr the week before. ASEAN-origin billet imports are priced higher because they are exempt from a 2% import duty. - source: Kallanish

  • A Russian coastal scrap-fed mill is offering August-cast billet at $410/tonne fob Black Sea, with a premium for prompt lead time. Some traders are pondering if Turkey will not book the whole lot at $420/t cfr, as demand there is high on rising scrap and a large volume of rebar sales. Current offers of billet to Turkey are at $425/t cfr, with bids reaching $415/t cfr, while some traders have already marked this level as unavailable for the willing Turkish re-rollers. - source: Kallanish

  • From $450/t cfr earlier this week, slab offers have softened to $445/t cfr Turkey, according to sources. However, there were also signals that there was an offer at $460/t cfr and a firm bid at $455/t cfr on Thursday. Turkish mills, as a rule, account for a $60/t rolling margin in their pricing of HRC produced from imported slab, resulting in the current offers of $500-510/t ex-works. - source: Kallanish

  • Turkish mills’ rebar export offers, which stood at $435-440/tonne fob Turkey a week ago, are now mostly at $440-445/t fob actual weight, though $450/t fob is also available from some producers.  - source: Kallanish

  • Kallanish assessed SAE 1008 6.5mm diameter mesh-grade wire rod at $463-467/t cfr Manila, up $10 on-week. - source: Kallanish
