Global Gauge Corporation Successfully Commissions Vision-based Width Gauge

Global Gauge Corporation (GGC), has successfully commissioned its first Stereoscopic Width Gauge System. This initial installation is at the exit of a hot roughing mill of a U.S.A. domestic steel plant. The gauge system uses the latest technology in high resolution digital line-scan cameras. High speed camera data is transmitted from the measurement head to the gauge computer via fiber optic cable, thus eliminating distortion issues inherent in analog transmission. High accuracy width and centerline position data is delivered to the mill control system via a Profibus link. Hot strip mill and cold mill models are available. This vision-based measurement system complements GGC’s existing X-ray Thickness and Coating Gauge systems installed throughout the world.
