Steelmaker Installs Consteel System
Tenova Core completed the installation and commissioning of a Consteel?
system for Ecuadorian steelmaker Andec at the company’s Guayaquil works,
which produces reinforcing bar. It is the first Consteel installation
in the region and the world’s most compact Consteel system. Consteel is
acontinuous steelmaking process that preheats and continuously feeds
scrap and other raw materials directly into the EAF via a patented
conveying system through the EAF sidewall. The reasons behind the
success of this technology in South America reside in the environmental
and productivity features of Consteel technology in an area where the
electrical power grid and power demand may not always permit the
installation or improvements of conventional EAFs.
