OMZ-Spesial Steels, part of OMZ Group, has completed construction of the new heat-treatment furnace.
The new shaft electric furnace of the vertical type is used for heating
by normalizing, hardening and drawing of workpieces of turbo-generator
rotors of steam turbines, propeller shafts and high-chromium long-grade
workpieces. Volume of investment in the project constitutes 106 million
roubles.
The furnace will produce heat-treated products with a
diameter of up to 3.5 meters and a length of 12 meters. It meets all
modern standards and requirements relating to new generation vertical
thermal furnaces. The accuracy of temperature control is ± 5°C, heating
rate is up to 80°C/hour. Cooling rate is up to 80°C/hour. The new
furnace will perform thermal treatment of blanks from now cultivated and
promising new high-chromium steels. Quenching temperature can reach
1150?C. Currently, none of the existing manufacturing facilities at
Izhorskiy Industrial Complex have a vertical furnace, which produces
thermal operations at this temperature. In addition, the launch of the
new vertical furnace will provide a 10% reduction in power consumption
for conducting heat treatment.
The company started
commissioning works that being carried out by specialists of the company
- original equipment manufacturer, Bosio (Slovenia). The furnace is
planned to be put in operation in the first quarter of this year.
