Siemens VAI to supply a new wire rod mill to WISCO
Siemens VAI Metals Technologies will supply the Weiyuan Iron & Steel
Company Limited with a new wire rod mill to expand annual production by
650,000 tonnes per year.
The new mill of the carbon products manufacturer will be located in
Lianjie Industrial Park in Weiyuan in Sichuan. Built in collaboration
with CISDI Engineering Co Limited, the project is expected to start up
in the spring of 2013.
The new mill for Weiyuan Iron & Steel will include a pre finishing
mill, 8 stand No Twist Mill, 4 stand Morgan Rod Reducing Sizing Mill and
Morgan High Speed Pinch Roll and Laying Head designed and supplied by
Siemens VAI.
In addition, Siemens is designing Morgan Shears, Morgan Stelmor conveyor
and reform area for the quality steelmaker. The mill will produce rods
that are 5 mm to 25 mm in diameter. The new equipment is designed to
reach speeds of 112 meters per second.
The largest privately owned iron and steel making company in Sichuan
Province, Weiyuan Iron & Steel Company Limited has an annual crude
steel production capacity of 2 million tonnes. It is a subsidiary of
Sichuan Tranvic Group and is part of the Chuanwei Group Co Limited, a
conglomerate founded in 1929 that ranks among China's top 500 companies
today.
