Recently, Baosteel Co.,Ltd. Heavy Plate Department 5m heavy plate production line breaks through equipment width limit and successfully rolls out pressure vessel extra-wide head steel.At present it has realized mass stable supply to users. It is known that due to high technical requirements, only Baosteel has mass stable production capacity of this product in China.
Pressure vessel extra-wide head steel rolling state maximum width is 4957 mm, which is the largest width variety since Baosteel Co.,Ltd. 5m production line was put into operation. As it is for the production of large pressure vessel's two semi-circular seals at upper and lower part, it has high requirements on specifications and performance and the production is extremely difficult. For many steel mills, even if equipment design capability allows, it is difficult to realize mass stable production of the product. Therefore, there is long-term dependence on imports, or downstream users weld two steel plates, which bring great obstacles to the downstream industry development.
Since October 2010, Baosteel Co.,Ltd. heavy plate production marketing research team began pressure vessel wide specification head steel technology research and development preparation and process technology experience accumulation. During the development process, Baosteel Co.,Ltd. production and technical personnel check and audit layers of processes and establish a sound whole process technology system and strict production tracking mechanism. In the production process, through accurate grasp and stable control of the slab size, plate heating uniformity and plate thickness uniformity index, they ultimately roll out products which meet customers' requirements.
At present, extra-wide head steel already has stable customers and steady demand, with the development of downstream industries, its market potential is optimistic. In addition, the mass stable production of the product also helps to accumulate valuable experience for Baosteel's future rolling of all kinds of wide specification products.
