In 2012, VIZ-Stal is going to allocate over
RUB3.5 bn towards its comprehensive Technical Upgrade Programme for GO
(grain oriented) steel production, almost tripling last year’s capex.
The ongoing reconstruction is aimed at mastering a new advanced product,
improving product quality, and increasing production efficiency.
As part of its action plan to master the high permeability steel
production technology, the Company will complete the construction of a
reversing rolling mill and continue revamping the thermal treatment
equipment. VIZ-Stal will also complete the construction of a natural gas
reforming unit in order to increase energy efficiency.
This year the Company has started the reconstruction of its electrical insulation coating lines to improve product quality.

VIZ-Stal (part of NLMK Group) is a leading global producer of
cold-rolled electrical steel and the largest producer of GO steel in
Russia. In 2007 the Company launched its Technical Upgrade Programme
that includes 11 investment projects on the construction of new units
and the reconstruction of existing ones. VIZ-Stal’s investments into
technical upgrades will total RUB8 billion.
