Tokyo --- Guangzhou JFE Steel Sheet Co., Ltd (GJSS), a joint venture between JFE Steel Corporation and Guangzhou Iron and Steel Enterprises Holdings Ltd., has begun operating a second continuous galvanizing line, part of an integrated production system encompassing cold rolling, continuous annealing and two Hot-dip galvanizing lines.
The 400,000-ton/year continuous galvanizing line, which has raised GJSS’s annual capacity for Hot-dip galvanized steel sheet to 800,000 tons, will help the company to meet increasing demand for high-end steel in China.
As part of a major ongoing expansion at GJSS, a cold rolling mill (1.8 million tons/year) and a continuous annealing line (1 million tons/year) entered commercial production in July and August 2011, respectively.
Going forward, GJSS, JFE Steel and Guangzhou Iron and Steel will further cooperate in providing stable supplies of cold rolled steel sheet and Hot-dip galvanized steel sheet to customers in China, particularly firms in the fast-growing automobile and electrical appliance industries.
