Scrap

  • Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel scrap, melting scrap from shipbreaking, domestic, delivered Turkey, dipped slightly to $298-300 per tonne on January 13, compared with the $300 per tonne on January 6. – source: Fastmarkets

 

  • On the West Coast, US-origin containerized HMS 1/2 80:20 prices started decreasing last week. From $270/t cfr Taiwan a week ago, they dropped first to $268/t cfr and then to $265/t cfr towards the end of the week. Buyers’ bids are at even lower levels today. – source: Kallanish

  • Fastmarkets' steel HRC import, cfr Vietnam assessment, which mainly looks at Chinese 2-3mm re-rolling-grade SAE1006 HRC and equivalent products sold into Vietnam, was $515-520 per tonne cfr for the week ending Monday January 13, up by $5-10 per tonne from a week earlier. – source: Fastmarkets

 

  • Formosa Ha Tinh is offering SS400 and pipe-making grade HRC at $510 per tonne cif and non-skin pass SAE1006 HRC at $515 per tonne cif. Its offer for skin pass SAE1006 HRC is $520 per tonne cif. – source: Fastmarkets

 

  • Fastmarkets' daily steel hot-rolled coil index domestic, ex-works Northern Europe, was €442.93 ($492.35) per tonne on Monday January 13, up from €442.43 per tonne on January 10. – source: Fastmarkets

 

  • US sheet prices, Kallanish now puts hot-rolled coil at $600-640/short ton, with cold-rolled rising to $800-840/st. All prices are ex-works, domestic mill.   – source: Kallanish

 

  • Italian domestic hot rolled coil transaction prices have upticked €5/tonne ($5.5/t) compared to December, Kallanish learns from market sources. Domestic prices are now at €425-435/t base ex-works but producers are mulling increases in line with international prices. They intend to increase HRC prices to €450-460/t base ex-works even though the highest price obtained last week was €435/t base ex-works. Sellers however are confident that the level of €450-460/t base ex-works can be achieved in the coming weeks in January transactions, sources say. – source: Kallanish
