Bonab Steel Industry Complex plans to produce for sale 450,000 tonnes of billet and 750,000 tonnes of finished product in the Iranian year through 20 March 2021. The Iranian firm is also targeting exports of 150,000t.
Overall merchant steel production rose 45% on-year in the Iranian year through 19 March 2020 to 493,000t, with exports reaching 30,000t, Kallanish notes.
Bonab Steel, a subsidiary of Mahan Mines and Industries Development Company, has a 600,000 t/y electric arc and induction furnace-based crude steel capacity and 2.45 million t/y capacity of long products spread over four rolling mills.
Mahan also owns Baft Steel, an 800,000 tonnes/year capacity direct reduced iron producer initially constructed as one of seven provincial state-owned DRI-billet-making projects in Iran. Also in the group is iron ore miner Mahan Sirjan Mine & Industries.
