According to an announcement issued by Brazil's Secretariat of Foreign Trade (SECEX) on the Federal Official Gazette, Brazil decided to initiate the first anti-dumping (AD) sunset review investigation on flat alloy steel bars, simply hot rolled, stretched or extruded, neither quick-cut nor steel silicon-manganese, with a thickness equal to or greater than 4.5 mm but not more than 60 mm, with a width equal to or greater than 50 mm but not exceeding 150 mm, regardless of the type of corner (round, spring, square, etc.), originating in China.
The products involved are classified under MERCOSUR Common Nomenclature (NCM) 7228.30.00.
The period of investigation was from April 2020 to March 2021, and the injury investigation period was from April 2016 to March 2021. The final ruling was scheduled to be made within ten months, except for another extension of a maximum of 2 months.
The announcement came into force from the date of issuance.
The original AD investigation of this case was launched on December 21, 2015. A definitive final determination was made on November 28, 2016 to impose a five-year AD duty of US$495.73/ton, valid until November 28, 2021.
