Thailand imposes Egyptian, Vietnamese HR flats anti-dumping duty

Thailand has set anti-dumping duties on hot rolled coil and sheet products from Egypt and Vietnam, Kallanish notes. The 4.74-42.34% duties will take effect from 1 December.

They target hot rolled flat products of 0.9-100mm thickness and 100-3,200mm width and fall under HS code headings 7208, 7211, 7225 and 7226. HR imports from Egypt’s Ezz Dekheila Steel will be levied with a 4.74% duty, with all other imports from Egypt incurring 6.2%. Imports from Vietnam’s Formosa Ha Tinh will face a 24.38% anti-dumping duty, while imports from other Vietnamese producers will incur 42.34%.

The trade investigation commenced in November last year after a petition was filed by Thai domestic mills Sahaviriya Steel Industries, G Steel, GJ Steel and Sahaviriya Plate Mill. Thailand already has anti-dumping duties on imports of HR coil/sheet from 17 other countries.
