China produced 33.96 million mt of steel rebar in January-February, down 2.2% from a year earlier amid the impact of the coronavirus outbreak, according to the latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
Production of wire rods also shrank 4.9% year on year to 21.52 million mt in January-February.
In the first two months of the year, domestic output of raw iron ore stood at 111.19 million mt, 4.6% lower from the same period last year. Production of medium-sized steel strip, meanwhile, increased 10.1% on the year to 25.6 million mt.
