Trina Green Hydrogen launches new electrolyser in MENA push

Chinese firm Trina Green Hydrogen, the hydrogen branch of Trina Solar, has launched its second-generation electrolyser promising higher hydrogen production efficiency, Kallanish learns.

The company says the new product features 30% higher current density than the previous generation. Its volume and weight have also been reduced by 23% and 18%, respectively.

The improvements were achieved through the adoption of “innovative” third-generation diaphragms, new electrode structures and structural improvement designs. Trina has fully automated production lines at its 1-gigawatt plant in Yangzhou, China.

While showcasing the product at a recent event in Dubai, the company claims users could benefit from a significant cost reduction. It didn’t, however, elaborate.

“Through unique modular design and frame-type product structure, the product has higher adaptability and flexibility, can meet the application needs of multiple scenarios, and support large-scale rapid deployment,” it says. “Under comprehensive conditions, equipment investment can be reduced by 30%, laying a solid foundation for large-scale green hydrogen production.”

Ceo Duan Shunwei says the company will continue to deepen its presence in the Middle East targeting demand from integrated “solar-storage-hydrogen” projects. The executive is confident in the growth of the sector, projecting that the global clean hydrogen supply capacity will reach 48 million tonnes by 2030.
