South Korea's Trade Commission is considering whether to impose provisional anti-dumping duties on Chinese plate, according to its Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
The proposed provisional tariff is expected to take effect next February. Korea Trade Commission started the AD investigation on plate from China on 4 October in response to Hyundai Steel's application (see Kallanish passim). The dumping rate Hyundai Steel claimed was 25.89%.
Involved plate products are under Korea HS codes 7208.51.1000, 7208.51.9000, 7208.52.1000, 7208.52.9000, 7225.40.9010, 7225.40.9091, and 7225.40.9099.
China exported 996,986 tonnes of the above plate products from January to October to South Korea, down 3.8% year-on-year but its supply share rose by 6% versus the earlier year to 62.7%.
