Turkish sections producer Kocaer Celik is to invest in a meltshop and fourth steel profile plant, the company says in its growth strategy and vision for 2030 presentation, seen by Kallanish.
The company aims to add grades not produced domestically to its product portfolio with the fourth steel profile plant which is expected to have a capacity of 500,000t/year.
Kocaer currently has three profile plants, one service centre and one galvanizing plant. With the fourth profile plant, the company will reach a total production capacity of 1.3mt/y and aims to increase the share of value-added products in total production to 70%.
With the planned meltshop investment with a capacity of 1mt/y, Kocaer aims to produce billets and blooms in different sizes and grades for the production of high-quality products.
The plant, equipped with advanced technologies for the production of green steel, will reduce the company’s raw material costs by 10-12% and is planned to be commissioned in 2028.
Additionally, the company aims to increase its renewable energy installed capacity from 9 MW in 2024 to 249 MW in 2030 with its ongoing geothermal and solar power plant investments.
It is also carrying out feasibility studies to expand its existing international distribution channels in Ireland and the UK. The company aims to open five new distribution channels and service centres in Saudi Arabia, the USA, and the EU.
