Flat steel producer Tosyalı Toyo has initiated trial production to double its tinplate capacity to 650,000 tonnes from 325,000t, according to Turkish media citing board member Kadir Tosyalı, Kallanish learns.
The facility, which handles approximately 70% of Turkey’s tin exports, is expected to be fully operational by year’s end, strengthening Turkey's domestic steel supply and export capabilities.
Located in the Osmaniye organized industrial zone, Tosyalı Toyo has a rolling capacity of 1.2 million tonnes/year and focuses on high-value-added flat steel products, including tinplate, galvanized and painted sheets, cold-rolled sheets, and acid-oiled coils.
Tosyalı Toyo is a joint venture between Turkey’s Tosyalı Holding, flat steel and steel pipe producer, and Japan's high-tech steel producer Toyo Kohan.
In June, Tosyalı Toyo’s application led Turkey to initiate an anti-dumping investigation into tin-coated flat steel imports from Germany, China, Japan, South Korea, and Serbia.
