Colombian authorities have initiated a sunset review into the definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of iron or non-alloy steel sections from China. This is according to a document from the foreign trade secretariat of the Colombian Ministry of Industry (MCIT), monitored by Kallanish.
The definitive anti-dumping duty was initially applied in October 2021.
The MCIT has found there is evidence of dumping and damage to the domestic industry by the said product used for light construction, with thicknesses equal to or less than 0.46 mm, classified under HS codes 7216.61.00.00, 7216.91.00.00 and 7228.70.00.00.
The review was requested by local Consorcio Metalurgico Nacional (Colmena) and Manufacturas Matecsa in February 2024.
During the ongoing investigation, the existing ad valoren duty of 37.88% will remain in effect.
