China Mineral Resources launches iron ore big data platform

China Mineral Resources Group (CMRG), a state-owned company managing domestic mineral resources, has launched an iron ore big data platform to provide diversified or customized data products, the company announced at the second Mineral Resources Supply Chain Sustainable Ecology Developers Conference held on November 7.

The online platform is the first of its kind to track data throughout the whole iron ore industrial chain globally, from prospecting, mining to smelting, according to the announcement.

There are thousands of indicators available at the platform, covering iron ore resource distribution, production, transportation, inventories and market trending, etc. Meanwhile, clients will also have access to the updates on spot and futures markets, steel production and iron ore shipping dynamics, and multi-dimensional analysis via the platform, Mysteel Global finds.

With the help of advanced formation technology like block chain, artificial intelligence and distributed computing, the platform will no doubt foster a high-quality development of the service industry related to iron ore, the company said.

CMRG has established strategic cooperation with dozens of enterprises and institutions from steel, mining, port, trade, and finance sectors to create a data ecosystem for the iron ore industry characterized by co-construction, co-governance, and shared benefits, it added.
