Miti conducting anti-dumping probes into iron, steel products, plastic from China, Dewan Rakyat told

The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (Miti) is conducting four anti-dumping investigations involving iron and steel products and plastic imported from China.

The ministry, through a written reply in the Dewan Rakyat, said that between 2015 and 2023, the government had also enforced nine anti-dumping measures for imported goods from the country.

"Anti-dumping duty is one of the trade remedies adopted by the government to ensure that the local industry is not affected by unfair trade practices by imported goods, which is the imposition of lower prices in Malaysia compared to the prices sold in the domestic market of exporting countries.

"This government action is in line with international regulations under the World Trade Organization's agreements," said Miti.

The ministry was replying to a question by Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah (Barisan Nasional-Paya Besar) regarding the anti-dumping policy as a tool to protect the domestic market from product dumping, especially from China.
