Brazil begins AD investigation on Chinese coated steel

The Brazilian Ministry of Industry (Secex/MDIC) has initiated an official anti-dumping investigation on imports of coated flat-rolled products originating from China, Kallanish notes. 

The local foreign trade secretariat’s investigation was launched following a request from local producers ArcelorMittal, Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN) and Usinas Siderúrgicas de Minas Gerais SA (Usiminas) on 29 April.

The Brazilian authorities note that there is sufficient evidence of damage to the domestic production of goods classified as flat rolled steel, alloyed or non-alloyed, electrolytically galvanized or by another process, classified under HS codes 7210.30.10, 7210.30.90, 7210.49.10, 7210.49.90, 7210.61.00, 7210.69.11, 7210.69.19, 7210.69.90, 7212.20.10, 7212.20.90, 7212.30.00, 7225.91.00, 7225.92.00, 7225.99.90 and 7226.99.00.

The period of investigation is between 1 January and 31 December 2023. The ministry determined the analysis period is from January 2019 to December 2023.
