Chinese investor consider steel investment in Kazakhstan

Beijing Jianlong Heavy Industry Group plans to build a steel factory in Kazakhstan, according to Kazakh media reports.

The company sees potential in the country’s heavy industry and aims to expand its operations by establishing a new production site, Kallanish notes.

"We are introducing a new approach to attract investments, focusing on the most promising industries, including steel production," Azamat Kozhanov, chair of Kazakh Invest, is quoted as saying on the Kazakh government’s efforts to attract investors. The government is ready to assist in identifying and supporting promising steel projects, he adds.

Both sides have agreed to continue their collaboration in developing steel production in Kazakhstan.

Beijing Jianlong Heavy Industry Group is an important participant in China's steel industry and controls Eastern Steel in Malaysia. In 2023, Jianlong Group produced 36.99 million tonnes of steel products.
