Turkey's benchmark BF-based mill Kardemir opened domestic sales for billet and wire rod on Thursday.
Billet prices stood unchanged at $535/tonne for 150mm S235JR grade and $550/t ex-works for B420 grade from the previous list on 6 August, Kallanish notes.
These price levels exclude 20% VAT. There is a $10, $20 and $25/t discount for billet orders at over 2,500t, 5,000t and 10,000t respectively. There is an additional discount of 1% for orders over 500t in case of cash payment.
With the attractive discount, in a few hours after opening the order book, 35,000t of billet sales were reportedly made to four customers, with trading still open.
Prices for 5.5-56mm diameter wire rod have been decreased by $10/t to $580-620/tonne, from Kardemir's previous list on 14 August.
The lira stood at TRY 33.93/USD on Thursday.
