Malaysia reviews duties on steel wires from China

Malaysia has initiated an administrative review on imports of stranded steel wires for prestressing concrete originating or exported from China, Kallanish notes.

Malaysia's Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) says in a statement that it had received an application from a Malaysian producer, Southern PC Steel, a subsidiary of listed company Southern Steel, requesting the review.

The request was made based on the grounds that the dumping margin of the subject merchandise originating or exported from China has changed substantially pursuant to Malaysia's acts and regulations.

The original antidumping investigation was initiated on 31 March 2021 and the final affirmative anti-dumping duties imposed on the subject merchandise originating or exported from China range between 2.09% to 21.72%, effective from 25 December 2021 to 24 December 2026.

"With regard to this application, the government has evaluated and determined that the information and evidence submitted by the applicant carries sufficient grounds to initiate an administrative review concerning the imports of the subject merchandise originating or exported from China," MITI says.

According to MITI, the government will initiate the administrative review and the final determination will be made within 180 days from the date of initiation.
