Better quality performances, reduced energy consumption and lower carbon emissions

Targeting energy efficiency and pollution reduction, Makstil AD selected Danieli technologies to revamp the reheating furnace serving its plate mill in the Skopje plant in North Macedonia, with a completely new set-up of the reheating process, supported by the newly developed “Efesto” simulation tool and enhanced furnace components.

Supplied by Danieli Centro Combustion, and in operation since 2008, the furnace has been operating with an hourly productivity of 100 tons of custom-made plates.

The project will allow Makstil to reduce the consumption of natural gas up to 10%, and consequent CO2 footprint reduction.

This will be achieved by installing new, Danieli Centro Combustion proprietary MAB flameless and RAD radiant burners –which will also reduce NOx emissions– along with a high-efficiency heat recuperation system and new, high-insulating refractory lining.

The agreement includes plant startup and personnel training to maximize the technological results, and the quickest return of the investment. Makstil and Danieli together will enhance product quality and simplify maintenance.

The upgrade on the plate mill reheating furnace will be executed by mid of 2025.
