The Mexican Ministry of Economy (SE) has started a review of the definitive compensatory duty on imported carbon steel connections, known as fittings, originating from China, Kallanish learns from a statement published in the country’s official gazette.
The SE previously imposed a duty of $1.05/kg on the product originating from China in February 2011. It extended the measure in 2015 and 2020 for an additional five years after reviewing the validity of the compensatory duty.
The current review was requested by tubemaker Tubos de Acero de México (Tamsa) and covers product imports under the tariff code 7307.93.01.
The injury analysis will focus on the period between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2024. The current definitive compensatory duty will remain in force while the review is carried out, SE says.
