Brazil extends AD duties on Chinese stainless steel

Brazil is continuing anti-dumping measures on imports of cold-rolled stainless steel sheets of grades 200 and 410, originating from China. This is according to a document from the local foreign trade secretariat of the Brazilian Ministry of Industry (Secex/MDIC) monitored by Kallanish.

Brazilian authorities accepted the complaint from the local supplier Aperam Inox América do Sul SA that there is sufficient evidence of damage to domestic production on the entries of said products, from April 2018 to March 2023.

According to the decision, imports of Chinese cold-rolled stainless steel with thicknesses of 0.35-4.75mm, classified under HS codes 7219.32.00, 7219.33.00, 7219.34.00, 7219.35.00 and 7220.20.90, will continue to be subject to a compensatory duty of $629.44/tonne.

The measure is valid for five years, starting from 27 May.

Anti-dumping measures were first imposed in October 2013, when the local Chamber of Foreign Trade (Camex) applied definitive duties on Chinese stainless steel sheets of $235.59-853.46/t.
