US announces 5-year review on Chinese steel pipes

The US International Trade Commission (ITC) is initiating a five-year review to determine whether antidumping and countervailing duty orders on circular welded carbon-quality steel pipe from China are still necessary, Kallanish learns from a notice by the commission.

The US Department of Commerce will assess whether continuing the duties would lead to material injury to the US industry. Domestic US parties who wish to be considered are requested to respond with pertinent information by 31 May. By 9 July, the commission will comment on the “adequacy of responses.”

According to the agency’s notification, this five-year review is its third. The AD and CVD duty orders orginiated in 2008.

The commission will assess the “adequacy of interested party responses to this notice of institution to determine whether to conduct a full review or an expedited review. The commission’s determination in any expedited review will be based on the facts available, which may include information provided in response to this notice,” the latest notice states.
