SEAISI Events
The first SEAISI Conference was held in 1986 and this year it was SEAISI’s 28th Conference since its incorpora-tion in 1971. The annual Conference and Exhibition is usually held in May in rotation around the ASEAN-6 countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam).
SEAISI’s first Environmental & Safety seminar was held in 2008. Due to lower interest in sustainability at that time, the content (not the event name), was switched to cover construction steel in 2015. This forum or seminar was usually held in November also in rotation.
However, in November 2021, SEAISI brought the sustainability and climate change content back into the November forum and created the combined Sustainability and Construction Forum. This combined event comprises the ASEAN Sustainability Forum and ASEAN Sustainable Construction Forum
ASEAN Sustainability Forum
The ASEAN Sustainability Forum is dedicated to educate and advocate the sustainable development of the Iron and Steel Industry in ASEAN.
The introduction of high-level decarbonisation policies in ASEAN has accelerated over the last few years, partly led by the push by efforts in Europe and US in response to climate change impacts. Even with all these policies, the path towards decarbonisation is murky at best, with no viable commercial technologies available to date.
Guided by SEAISI’s Environmental and Safety Committee (ESCO), this Forum aims to invite experts from around the world to bring knowledge and understanding of global climate change impacts to the Iron and Steel industry in ASEAN.
ASEAN Sustainable Construction Forum
The ASEAN Sustainable Construction Forum is dedicated bring the ASEAN Iron and Steel industry together with the largest steel consuming sector - Construction. The objective of such effort is to encourage industry players to get closer to this customer segment, so they can find ways to continue to add value to the Construction sector.
This forum is under the purview of SEAISI’s Construction Committee with a few external Construction sector experts, and SEAISI hopes to further build this ASEAN wide Construction Forum together with Construction Industry Experts and Associations towards a sustainable future.
The 2023 ASEAN Sustainability & Construction Forum
From 20 – 21 November 2023, the 2023 ASEAN Sustainability & Construction Forum will be held in the Raffles City Convention Centre in Singapore.
For the first time, the event will feature a Special Message from SEAISI on the state of the industry and how it should move forward.
The special session carries the theme of the Future of Green Transition for Sustainable Business, with expert speakers from BCG, Navigate Commodities and Vertree.
The event also features a CEO panel discussion on ASEAN Decarbonisa-tion Pathways and its Challenges as well as an Expert panel discussion on Strategies & Challenges Towards Sustainable Construction & Finan-cing. Of course, there are more.
