Production of the four major home appliances in China – namely air-conditioners, washing machines, televisions and refrigerators – all increased on-year over January-February, according to the latest data released on March 20 by the country's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
NBS has released combined data for January-February to factor out the holiday effect caused by the Chinese New Year break, which typically falls sometime during the two months, Mysteel Global notes.
During January-February, production of air-conditioners ranked top among the four major appliances in terms of both volume and on-year rise, with the tonnage jumping by 18.8% from the same period last year to reach 37.64 million units, the NBS data showed.
In parallel, exports of the four major home appliances in the past two months also moved higher on year, with the export volume of refrigerators showing the most significant on-year rise of 41.9% at 11.31 million units, according to the latest data released by China's General Administration of Customs (GACC).
