Colombian authorities have initiated a review of existing definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of certain Chinese-origin high-carbon steel wire. This is according to a document from the foreign trade secretariat of the Colombian Ministry of Industry (MCIT), monitored by Kallanish.
MCIT has found evidence of dumping and damage to the domestic industry by imports of carbon steel high-strength wire with 3 to 7 strands, classified under HS code 7312.10.90.
During the review, Colombia will maintain its 15% ad valorem duty on China-origin imports of said products. The measure was originally imposed in November 2018.
The current review follows a request from local wire rod producer Empresa Colombiana de Cables (Emcocables).
