Chinese leading NEV company BYD has officially entered the Indonesian car market, offering its best-seller all-electric vehicle Dolphin at IDR 425 million ($27,200), Kallanish learns.
This retail price for the long-range version was revealed at the 2024 Indonesia International Auto Show on Friday. Other models are also available to order. The Seal long-range BEV starts at IDR 629m and the performance version at IDR 719m. The Atto 3 long-range version’s price stands at IDR 515m.
In China, the price of Dolphin ranges around CNY 99,800-129,800 ($13,865-$18,030). The models with a longer range of 420 kilometres (CLTC) retail at between CNY 112,800 and CNY 119,800. Prices of the Seal long-range and performance versions in BYD’s domestic market are over $10,000 cheaper than in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the 510-km range Atto 3, which in China is known as Yuan Plus and sells at CNY 167,800 – that’s around $9,500 less than in Indonesia.
During the auto show, BYD Indonesia and Mandiri Bank signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly promote the adoption of EVs and provide people with more convenient purchase plans.
Also on Friday, BYD unveiled a version of its Dolphin, the Honor edition, with a lower starting price of CNY 99,800 in China. The move makes the BEV cheaper than an ICE, the carmaker says.
