Singapore-based battery recycler GLC Recycle Pte has signed a lithium carbonate supply agreement with Shanghai-listed cathode provider XTC New Energy Material Xiamen (XTC) over a three-year period.
According to GLC Recycle’s announcement, the crude lithium carbonate that XTC is going to purchase is to be produced from recycled used batteries by GLC in the next three years. The deal covers a total supply of at least 10,000 tonnes, Kallanish learns.
“This partnership is a significant step forward in our mission to create a more sustainable battery ecosystem. By combining our expertise in recycling with XTC’s manufacturing capabilities, we can offer customers truly green battery solutions while contributing to China’s carbon neutrality goals,” comments Yang Mingdong, GLC Recycle’s chief executive.
Yang Jinhong, XTC chairman adds: “We are excited to partner with GLC Recycle and leverage our respective strengths to build a more circular and responsible battery supply chain. This collaboration not only benefits the environment but also strengthens our position as a leading provider of sustainable new energy materials.”
GLC Recycle also mentions it utilises artificial intelligence-powered technology while recycling used batteries and electronic products, producing “traceable low-carbon eco-battery raw materials.”
