Japanese steel mills' A36 carbon plate price stimulates Malaysian steel mills to follow suit

Malaysian steel mills' offer to Taiwanese buyers was very similar to the unit price of Japanese steel mills' transaction orders. The buyer believed that Malaysia's price was too high.

According to local coil centers, the current new rate is too high compared to the price of A36 carbon plate of Malaysia origin that just arrived in early January. Market participants said that Japanese and South Korean mills have raised prices, thus stimulating new offers from Malaysia. However, there is a difference in quality between Malaysia and Japan, and new offers will definitely be suppressed by buyers.

Since Taiwan’s domestic prices are high, coupled with limited import sources, there is still room for survival in imports.
