Turkish pipemaker Erciyas Çelik Boru has suspended production at its Düzce and Mersin facilities due to the strike called by the United Metal Workers Union from 31 January.
“In the ongoing collective labour agreement negotiations, our company has sought ground for agreement in good faith within the framework of global competition, country and sector realities, but our company's efforts to reach a compromise and a common point have so far remained inconclusive,” says Erciyas in a bourse filing seen by Kallanish.
While sales from stock will not be affected by the strike, production is expected to restart when the strike ends.
Erciyas Pipe has an annual production capacity of 600,000 tonnes.
