Liberty Steel idled the blast furnace No.5 at its Galati steel plant in Romania due to the disruption of raw material supply.
The blast furnace No.5 was just restarted in December last year. It was originally suspended in October due to the access to raw material supply restricted by severe weather conditions.
Liberty Steel’s current hot-rolled coil production relies on slab imports, and it aims to resume the facility in the coming weeks. Besides, the company also planned to purchase large amounts of iron ore from Constanta stocks next week to prevent supply disruptions caused by weather issues.
