The Salzgitter Group has restarted its blast furnace A after a complete modernization lasting just over 100 days.
The blast furnace A was completely relined during the overhaul process. Among them, the company renewed the refractory lining with 3,000 tons of carbon bricks and other refractory materials.
With the relining of the blast furnace A, the Salzgitter Group has taken a key operational step to secure the pig iron supply for the transformation phase towards low-CO2 steel production by 2033.
The total investment in the relining and upgrading process was more than EUR 100 million, according to the Salzgitter Group.
