The Thai Chamber of Commerce has determined that anti-dumping duties on imported tin free steel from China, South Korea and European will restart.
Kallanish notes that AD duties, based on CIF prices, are set at 4.53%-24.73% for China, 3.95%-17.06% for South Korea and 18.52% for EU, and have again entered into effect from 13 November.
These products arrive under HS codes 7210.50.00.021, 7210.50.00.022, 7210.50.00.023, 7210.50.00.024, 7210.50.00.025, 7210.50.00.026, 7210.50.00.029, and 7210.50.00.090.
Thailand launched the initial anti-dumping investigation back on 7 May 2020. Then they published the final results and imposed AD duties on 12 November 2022 for five years (see Kallanish passim)
However, a domestic deficit of tin free steel forced Thai Chamber of Commerce to exempt these duties from 13 May 2022 to 10 November 2023.
Imports from these three partners to Thailand surged 113.8% in the third quarter over the previous period to 11,401t.
China exported 12,703t of tin free steel from January to September to Thailand, taking a 32.53% share of its total imports during that period. Korea, Japan and Vietnam followed with 11,572t, 9,950t, and 3,804t, respectively.
