Turkey’s coated steel producers are reporting moderate demand domestically and for exports, with price increases reflecting the modest but steady upward trend in the domestic hot rolled coil segment, market participants inform Kallanish.
Turkey’s hot-dip galvanized coil producers report order books are closed for the current year, with material being traded now for January shipment.
There were reports of sales to the Americas, including the US and Canada. Apart from that, demand was registered from Egypt, Tunisia, Ukraine and Romania.
There was also some expectation of orders from the EU, following the Blechexpo industry gathering last week in Stuttgart, a producer source observes.
A trader has indicated that despite discussions of price increases for exports, these have not been officially confirmed through completed deals.
For imports, “demand for solar applications has been good for the high-grade material which is normally catered for by South Korean and EU suppliers,” another trader notes.
