Nagendra Nath Sinha, Secretary of the Steel Ministry, said India's annual domestic steel capacity has surpassed 161 million tons. Among them, the capacity from blast furnace-basic oxygen furnaces accounted for 67 million tons, the route of electric arc furnaces was 36 million tons, and 58 million tons were made through the induction furnace route.
The Steel Secretary said that India’s steel industry continues to grow. The achievement of steel capacity was in line with the government’s target of the National Steel Policy to realize a steel capacity of 300 million tons per year by 2030.
