Kardemir published a new price list and opened sales for rebar on Wednesday, Kallanish notes.
Rebar in diameters of 12-32mm and 36-40mm were each decreased by TRY 160/tonne ($5.6/t) to TRY 15,825/t and TRY 15,915/t, respectively, versus Kardemir’s previous list on 25 October.
Prices quoted are ex-works and exclude 18% VAT.
Despite the weak activity in the market and lower offer prices from some other producers, Kardemir sold 30,000 tonnes of rebar and closed sales in an hour. This is mostly due to Kardemir's offering of deferred payment while Turkish financing issues mount.
The lira stood at 28.32 per $1 on Wednesday morning.
