China Jan-Sept crude stainless output up 12% YoY

China's total output of crude stainless steel posted a significant on-year rise of 11.9% or 2.8 million tonnes to reach 26.61 million tonnes over the first nine months of this year, according to the latest release by Stainless Steel Council of China Special Steel Enterprises Association (CSSC) on October 27.

Among the total, production of all stainless series increased by various degrees compared with the same period last year, with the volume of 300-series stainless seeing the sharpest rise of 14% on year to 13.56 million tonnes over January-September, the CSSC data showed. 

For the first three quarters, China's production of high-end duplex stainless increased by 5% on year to 261,954 tonnes, according to the association. 

Meanwhile, China's apparent consumption of stainless steel also witnessed an on-year increase of 9.2% or 1.89 million tonnes to reach 22.34 million tonnes over January-September. 

However, the country's stainless exports had kept falling for the first nine months, with the total volume down by 10.3% on year to 3.11 million tonnes, the CSSC statistics showed.
