Sweden's H2 Green Steel is negotiating with the Canadian government to build a mega green steel plant in northern Quebec.
The proposed project includes a green iron facility and a large electrolyzer powered by renewable energy to supply the project with hydrogen rather than coal. Another plan is to set up a full steel mill that will need 2,000 workers.
The 500-acre project project is expected to need EUR 3-6 billion.
H2 Green Steel has previously signed agreements with several steel suppliers and car manufacturers to supply green steel from its plant in Boden, Sweden.
