Canada-based mineral exploration company ACME Lithium has completed the summer exploration programme (Phase 1) at its Bailey Lake lithium project area in northeastern Saskatchewan, Canada.
The 3-in-1 airborne geophysical survey featured helicopter-borne tri-axial gradiometer magnetics, radiometric, and LiDAR (light detection and ranging) over a 7,975-hectare area on the property. It helped identify regional structural trends and localised controls of pegmatite bodies along the lithium mineralisation previously identified, the company says.
ACME used the preliminary data from the survey to help in guiding the subsequent prospecting, with final geophysical data pending, Kallanish learns from the company.
For the geological prospecting programme, the company collected 366 rock samples along the trend of historically reported lithium-bearing pegmatite samples. It also gathered mineralogical, alteration, and structural data at the sample sites. The samples, containing pegmatites/pegmatitic dykes and local country rock, were submitted to SGS Canada for analysis.
The 41,694-hectare Bailey Lake pegmatite discovery area was acquired in December 2022 from Saskatchewan-based Gem Oil Inc. The firm notes that Saskatchewan is a “highly prospective” region for critical minerals, with the local government expanding its existing investment and innovation incentive programmes to include eligible lithium projects.
ACME has also acquired or is in the process of acquiring 100% stake in projects: Clayton Valley and Fish Lake Valley in Esmeralda County, Nevada (US); and Shatford, Birse, and Cat-Euclid Lakes in southeastern Manitoba (Canada).
