According to the report, Taiwanese Climate Change Administration Ministry of Environment (CCA) recently announced latest carbon fee schedule, the CCA decided to establish the carbon fee rate in early 2024 and conduct carbon footprint verification in 2024, and levy a carbon fee based on the inspection results in 2025. It is estimated that more than 500 regulated enterprises in Taiwan will pay their first carbon fee in 2025.
The CCA emphasized that it is expected that the schedule for 2026 will be in line with the European Union's (EU) Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and companies paying Taiwan's carbon fee will be able to deduct the EU's carbon tariff.
