Brazil extends anti-dumping measures on Chinese, Romanian pipes

Brazil has extended its definitive antidumping measures on imports of seamless steel pipes originating from China and Romania for an additional period of five years. This is according to a document from the local foreign trade secretariat of the Brazilian Ministry of Industry (Secex/MDIC) monitored by Kallanish.

The Brazilian authorities note that there is sufficient evidence of damage to the domestic production of the said product, classified under HS code 7304.19.00.

According to the decision, Brazil will maintain duties for Chinese-origin seamless pipes at $743/tonne, while Romanian seamless pipes will remain subject to a $75.11/t duty.

The investigation was originally begun following a request from local producer Vallourec & Mannesmann Tubes do Brasil in 1998.
