The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is China's main steel and aluminum export destination. Among them, Thailand is the leading country importing the most steel and aluminum from China.
According to the statistics, in the first five months, Thailand's local steel production totaled 2.81 million tons, decreasing by 14.7% year on year. Meanwhile, Thailand's steel imports and exports amounted to about 4.99 million tons and 630,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 15.6% and 9.5%, respectively.
Thailand's steel mills are concerned that a large amount of steel imports from China might impact local enterprises.
