Malaysia’s Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry has extended the imposition of anti-dumping duties on cold rolled stainless steel in coils, sheets or any other form originating from China, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand, Kallanish notes.
The Ministry in January initiated the first sunset review in response to an application from domestic producer Bahru Stainless Sdn Bhd (see Kallanish passim). The products involved shall have a thickness of between 0.3mm and 6.5mm, and a width of not more than 1,600mm.
They come under HS codes 7219.31.00 00, 7219.32.00 00, 7219.33.00 00, 7219.34.00 00, 7219.35.00 00, 7220.20.10 00 and 7220.20.90 00.
After an extension of five years, the AD duties are effective between 27 July 2023 and 26 July 2028. The duty rate is 2.68%-23.95% for Chinese suppliers, 4.44%-7.27% for South Korea, 2.79%-14.02% for Taiwan and 22.86%-111.61% for Thailand.
Meanwhile, some suppliers are exempted from the duties as no dumping practices were found on their products. This list contains Hyundai Steel Company and Hyundai BNG Steel Co., Ltd. in South Korea, and Chia Far Industrial Factory Co., Ltd. and Yieh United Steel Corporation in Taiwan.
