Lopal starts 30,000 t/y LFP materials production line in Indonesia

Shanghai-listed manufacturer Jiangsu Lopal Technology announced it has recently started Phase 1 production in its lithium iron phosphate (LFP) project at the Kendal Industrial Park of Indonesia, Kallanish learns.

According to the company, total project investment is expected $290 million. During the initial stage, the plant will produce 30,000 tonnes/year of cathode materials, reaching a full capacity of 120,000 t/y later. The project is implemented by Lopal’s Indonesia-based subsidiary Liyuan.

The company sees the official start of production as a key milestone for its global production and sales, amid its international expansion strategy.

Recently, it also published its June performance data regarding LFP materials. In June, it produced 12,372 t of LFP cathode materials – an on-year increase of 59.83% and an on-month increase of 2.48%.

Besides LFP, the company has also been expanding layouts in high-nickel ternary precursors. It has already constructed a 50,000 t/y production capacity of such in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu Province. The first phase of this project has been put into production.

In addition, it formed a joint venture to construct 70,000 t/y lithium carbonate production capacity with CATL in Yichun, Jiangxi Province. The annual output value of this operation is expected at CNY 20 billion ($2.79 billion).

Currently, Lopal has five major Chinese domestic intelligent production bases located in the Jiangsu, Tianjin, Sichuan, Shandong and Hubei provinces.
