Australian lithium miner Core Lithium said Tuesday it’s ready to export the second shipment of spodumene concentrate from its Finniss project in the Northern Territory to China, Kallanish reports.
The roughly 13,100-tonne cargo, being loaded at Darwin Port, will head to Zhangjiagang, China, to be delivered to Sichuan Yahua. The shipment completes the additional sale agreement the companies signed in March for 18,500 t of spodumene concentrate.
Yahua, which already has a 300,000 t offtake agreement with Core Lithium, has paid for the initial 3,500-tonne cargo and prepaid 80% of the second cargo in April. Final payment will be taken after shipment. Both batches were sold on a fob basis and linked to spodumene 6% cif China prices.
Core Lithium’s ceo Gareth Manderson highlighted the spodumene concentrate was produced and delivered to the Darwin Port on-schedule, marking an important milestone for the company and its newly commissioned project. “As we ramp up to steady-state operations at Finniss, our focus now is on the reliable production and delivery of spodumene concentrate to our long-term offtake partners,” he adds.
The project will produce 160,000 t of spodumene concentrate over an initial 12-year mine life. The company is also conducting a “high impact” drilling campaign this year to grow the resource and extend the project’s mine life.
